## What is AI transformation

AI transformation is the work of taking artificial intelligence from isolated pilots into reliable production: technically, organizationally and at board level at once. Success is decided less by the model than by the gap between model, organization and strategy. It combines AI implementation (GenAI, LLM agents, RAG, copilots, data engineering, MLOps), organizational development (target operating model, change and enablement, EU AI Act readiness) and doctoral-level technical and scientific rigor.

## About

- **Name:** Dr. Alexander Lammers
- **Role:** Consultant, lecturer and researcher in AI transformation: takes AI from pilot to production in regulated organizations, with governance and the workforce on board
- **Location:** Germany
- **Contact:** a.lammers@alexanderlammers.de
- **Education:** PhD Economics, TU Dortmund (summa cum laude); B.Sc./M.Sc. Economics, TU Dortmund (Grade A); Professional Data Scientist (DataCamp)
- **Languages:** German (native), English (fluent), Latin (Latinum)
- **Certifications:** Microsoft AI Transformation Leader, Microsoft AI Business Professional

## Research focus

How new technology, specifically artificial intelligence, reshapes work, organization and employee participation. What conditions need to be met for technological change to be productive and socially sustainable.

Specific areas of expertise:
- Artificial Intelligence and Generative AI in organizations
- Machine Learning, Data Engineering, MLOps
- EU AI Act, AI Governance, risk classification
- Labor economics, technological change, employee participation

## How I work (three disciplines that rarely meet in one person)

- **AI implementation:** GenAI solutions, LLM agents, RAG and copilots, from use-case prioritization into production, with data engineering, MLOps and cloud platforms (Azure, AWS).
- **Organizational development:** Target operating models, change and enablement programs, AI governance and EU AI Act readiness, so technology actually lands in processes and teams.
- **Technical excellence:** Doctoral-level method, depth in ML and forecasting, and peer-reviewed research: the foundation for decisions that hold up under pressure and regulation.

## Insights

Long-form analysis at the intersection of AI delivery, organization and governance:

- [EU AI Act: the deadline moved, the work didn't](https://alexanderlammers.de/en/insights/eu-ai-act-deadline-moved/): the Digital Omnibus postponed the high-risk obligations; why that is no reason to relax and what the extra time is worth.
- [AI with the workforce: why co-determination speeds up adoption](https://alexanderlammers.de/en/insights/ai-with-the-workforce/): peer-reviewed research shows works councils strengthen training exactly where automation hits hardest.
- [From automation to agentic AI: what changes for organizations](https://alexanderlammers.de/en/insights/from-automation-to-agentic-ai/): rule-based automation follows fixed paths; agentic AI plans, decides and adapts. The leap is in control, operations and accountability.
